Greenwashing has grown in prevalence as people try to latch on to anything/everything green.  

As defined by the NRDC (National Resource Defense Council) the term refers to "the act of making false or misleading statements about the environmental benefits of a product or practice."

Carefully research claims made about the positive connection to green (sustainable) investing, products, or practices.  It has become a catchall buzzword for anything to do with the environment.
